After-School Program

The Park City After-School Program is held on school days, starting at the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. Students in grades K-5 who attend Jeremy Ranch, Trailside, McPolin and Parley’s Park Elementary Schools are eligible to participate. These programs are coordinated through Park City Community Education, Park City Education Foundation, Promise Park City and Holy Cross Ministries. The goal is to provide a safe, educational and enriching environment for children while providing a quality child care option for parents.

People needing full-time enrollment, Monday – Friday, will be given first registration priority. Part-time enrollment, Monday – Thursday or Friday only, is available if space permits. Payments are made to the Park City School District on a monthly basis. For information on the cost of the 2018-19 program, call or email the Community Education office.

Each day includes homework time, snack time, enrichment activity, active play and quiet time. There will be at least one special activity each month, which may include a Friday field trip or a special guest presentation. There is behavior code contract that parents and children need to sign.

The programs are staffed with fully qualified, trained teachers and specialists who follow national after-school standards. Parents who are interested in observing the camp prior to enrollment are encouraged to stop by during camp hours and speak with the teachers.

Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Complete scholarship form and return to Alison Taylor along with verification of income.

Dear Parents –

As we approach the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year, we want to take the opportunity to thank you all for your participation in this program, and for helping us make 2016-2017 a successful and inspiring first year as a brand new program. In August of 2016, we combined our Park City School District Community Education After School Program with Holy Cross Ministries’ After School Program. It has been a year full of learning, growth, making new friends, and embracing incredible opportunities.

We are extremely proud of all the community partnerships that make this program possible. With the help of Park City Education Foundation, United Way, and Park City Community Foundation, we are able to provide the highest quality of after school programming in town, with a unique fusion of fun and academic enrichment. We will continue to develop the four main pillars of our program: academic enrichment, homework help, physical education, and field trips. It is our main priority to keep the children safe in a positive and engaging learning environment. The students will continue to build their STEM and literacy skills with a host of new, fun projects and learning opportunities next year. We will also be happy to continue our partnerships with some of Park City’s most amazing organizations: EATS Park City, Kids Outdoors, Basin Recreation, the MARC, Youth Sports Alliance, Latinos in Action, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. This year we will focus on monitoring the success of our program and ensuring that we are providing the strongest academic support that we can. We will target the areas where students need help the most, and focus on building the essential skills they need to succeed in regular day school.

Parent letter sent August of 2016:

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to introduce the Park City After-School Program, an initiative that unifies our previous after-school camps. This collaboration provides an even higher level of quality and opportunity for ALL of the children who participate.

If your kids attended Camp Hawk at Jeremy Ranch, Camp Trailblazer at Trailside, Camp Falcon at Parley’s Park  or the Holy Cross after-school program in the past, you notice most of the same activities after school. We are also happy to add Camp Moose at McPolin to the mix!

There are many benefits to the unified program, but the bottom line is: more of our children will have access to a better quality of after-school instruction and activities. The previous programs all shared similar goals, already shared the same space, the same staff and much of the same funding. The unified, streamlined approach will simplify the process to allow us to focus on what matters most — providing the best after-school program possible for our children.

Our partners, which include Holy Cross Ministries, Park City Education Foundation, Promise Park City, and many others, have had the same goal for many years. This August, just after I was named Director of Community Education, the goal to collaborate was achieved.

Starting Tuesday, September 6th, transportation will be provided for eligible riders (this means all elementaries except McPolin, as Camp Moose participants live within the busing boundary). The focus on providing a comfortable learning environment for our kids is a top priority, and the after-school team is making progress every day to find appropriate classroom space for our students. The Child Nutrition staff has implemented a snack menu, and our team continues to investigate the possibility of partnering with EATS Park City in the future.

I’d like to thank the coordinators, our teachers and principals for their continuing hard work. Because of their commitment to this cause, ALL of the children in our community now have ONE amazing after-school program to be proud of!
